Fundacja SONI

A brief History

SONI is a not-for-profit organisation supporting athletes with an intellectual impairment to compete at the highest level, as well as in grass roots sports. We support athletes on their way to the championship by organizing workouts, sport workshops and helping them to prepare to competition.

SONI promotes sport of athletes with an intellectual impairment. We work together with public bodies and media to popularize parasport in Poland. SONI educates parents, teachers and coaches how to work with the athletes with special needs.

We act in whole country managing the process of qualification the athletes with Down syndrome to participate in the country and international championships. SONI coordinates departure of the Polish representation for the SU-DS competition. At Euro TriGames 2021 in Ferrara Poland’s representation will compete in 4 disciplines: athletes, judo, swimming and artistic swimming. We strive to expand the number of disciplines in which our representatives will compete.

SONI is a member of IAADS and DSISO (within Sports Union for Athletes with Down Syndrome) and Związek Stowarzyszeń Sportowych Sprawni-Razem – VIRTUS Member Organisation for Poland.

The SONI Foundation’s founder and president is Paulina Gadomska-Dzięcioł – sport lover and Zosia Dzięcioł’s mother. Zosia represents Poland at the SU-DS championships in swimming and athletics. She is an European record holder in the 800m race (Tampere 2019)
